Big Canvas Project May 2006

Big Canvas project May 3-4th and 17-18th.

Carol Davis and Helen Hewitt and  some Year 10 pupils from Somervale School worked with our Year 10 pupils at Fosse Way School on the Big Canvas Project.

As the name suggests it was an art project involving a Big Canvas - and they were big. Bigger than some of the pupils painting on them!

As part of the sessions they enjoyed exploring the art of two famous artists. They looked at the way the painting was constructed, the techniques used, the textures and the use of paint and colour.

They learnt how to stretch a large canvas and how to prime it for their own work based on what they had been learning.

They then all worked together to complete some stunning work as you can see below!

Some fine detail needed as well as broad strokes. Concentrate everyone!
