SWALLOW Youth Club

  • The group meets every Thursday and is for young people with learning disabilities aged between 13-19 years and offers a range of activities.  We promote independence and work towards increasing social and pratical skills.
  • We provide a safe, secure environment with trained staff where you can meet new friends and have plenty of fun!

 Teenage Rampage

  • Teenage Rampage is an evening for disabled young people aged 13-19 which meets every Tuesday during school term, 7-9pm at Odd Down Community Centre.
  • Activities they have carried out in the past include; going out for dinner, swimming, barbecues, discos, bowling, picnics, ‘wild walks’  and much more.
  • Staff are all experienced in working with disabled young people as well as experienced play and youth workers who provide positive role models to young people whilst providing information and giving them opportunities to get involved with age appropriate activities and play.

SOFA Project

  • The very popular SOFA (Summer of Fun Activities) programme has been put together by young people. The programme is designed for disabled and non-disabled and disadvantaged young people aged 12 – 19 years and will be well supported by qualified and a dedicated staff team.
  • The programme is designed to support young people who might otherwise be involved in less positive activities so if you work with a group of young people or an individual young person who you think would benefit from taking part, please tell them about SOFA! SOFA is an ideal social opportunity which is age appropriate and relevant to young people and for many being with peers during the long summer break, makes a huge difference to maintaining and building their self esteem and confidence levels.

  • Keynsham Junior Club is a social club for children with Learning Disabilities and aims to offer a range of fun, exciting and stimulating activities. We have a varied programme of activities each term incorporating a wide variety of music, dance, craft, theme sessions, trips out and more.

Super Saturday Club

  • Super Saturday club offers vital social opportunities for special needs children at the weekend. Transport is provided from Keynsham.
  • We do a range of different activities including games, sports, arts and crafts, theme mornings, zumba, dance, music and so much more!

18+ Club

  • This is our group for adults which meet every Thursday evening. We have a base at St Dunstans Church in Bristol Road. Each week members get a choice of going out in the community or staying at base for activities and chilling out with friends.
  • Types of outings include bowling, pub trips and meals out whilst activities at base are wide and varied such as bingo, quiz nights, theme evenings, music sessions, dancing, karaoke, art and craft and cooking.

Go Explore Club

  • Go Explore Club is a social club for young adults Learning Disabilities and aims to offer a range of fun, exciting and stimulating activities, with a focus on developing independence and life skills. Every third week we have a trip out into the community, such as bowling or meals out where members can develop these skills further.

Mencap Football Club

  • Our football club gives our members aged 16+ the chance to enjoy a popular sport and improve their skills.
  • Players don’t need any football skills or knowledge of the game to join football club, just a willingness to get involved and a positive attitude!
  • Our football team is entered in the Somerset FA South West Ability Counts league and play regular league matched against other teams from the region. The team are currently top of Division 2!

Mencap Fitness Club

  • Fitness Club aims to support our members to become more active, improve their health and fitness levels and boost their confidence.
  • The Fitness Club helps to maintain member’s physical and mental well-being with enjoyable and easy-to-follow exercise routines.
  • The club encourages members to become more active with a focus on making keeping fit and exercising fun!
  • Anyone aged 16 and over with a learning disability is welcome. The club and the activities will be adapted for all levels and abilities and those with an additional physical impairment are also welcome.

Mencap Boccia Club

  • Our Boccia Club started very recently in June 2014. Boccia (pronounced bot-cha) is a Paralympic sport, similar to bowls, that is played sitting down. The club is open to anyone with a learning disability aged 12 and over. As well as playing games of boccia the club will have some chair based exercises to warm up and various target games to practice throwing techniques and aim.

Dinner Group (Cooking and Games Night)-Time2Share

  • The Bath Dinner group meets once a month on a Friday evening at Beechen Cliff Methodist Church to cook a meal, hang out and eat together. There is also pool, table tennis, art activities and games.
  • The Midsomer Norton Dinner group meets once a month on a Friday evening at the Somer Centre to cook a meal, hang out and play games, including table tennis, Uno and Yu-gi-Oh! We also have an art activity.

Banes 18+ Group – Time2Share

  • The 18+ group was started for disabled young people over 18 when they left our other groups. Young people at the group are aged 19-28. The group meets 2 Friday evenings a month, once to play skittles and once to go out.
  • The aim of the group is to support young people who would like a social life on Friday evenings and would otherwise be isolated. Young people need to be safe in a group setting, as we are unable to offer 1:1 support.
  • The going out sessions are chosen by group members every 6 months, popular choices include meals out, theatre and cinema trips, gym and swimming sessions, train trips and canal walks.
  • Group members enjoy alcoholic drinks during these sessions, but have agreed a 2 drink limit

Independence social groups for 8 – 18 year olds-Time2Share

  • This group is for disabled young people and their siblings aged 8-18. There are 8 days trips during the school holidays throughout the year. In addition, we have regular trips to bowling and cinema on Saturday and Sundays each month.
  • Before new members join we like to come and visit, so you can ask any questions you have and we can get to know you a little.

Zookah! group for 17-25 year olds-Time2Share

  • The Zookah! group is for young people aged 17-25 with Aspergers syndrome. There are two sessions a month. The group meets on a Friday night, each month there is a “youth club” session at Felix Road, and a going out session which can include adventure golf, cinema, bowling, and archery.
  • Before new members join we like to come and visit, so you can ask any questions you have and we can get to know you a little.

Family Activities-Time2Share

  • Time2Share Family Activities are sessions to support families of disabled children to get together and enjoy activities in Bristol. This project is starting in July 2015.

WPA Saturday Club

  • Saturday club is a friendly, targeted group designed for and by young people, 11-19 years with additional support needs.  The group offers a wide range of activities that help develop young people’s confidence, life skills and encourages them to engage in immediate and the wider community.
  • Activities include; Den building, fire lighting, team games, cooking, arts and crafts, sport days, swimming and so much more.

WPA Norton Youth Club

  • Free Youth Club for 11 – 18 year olds based in Midsomer Norton Town Hall.
  • When: Thursdays, 6.30pm – 8.30pm, Term Time Only
  • Weekly drop in sessions, meaning you can come and go as you please – just sign in and out at the door so we know who’s on site!
  • Access Xbox One, table tennis and chill out space with blue-tooth speakers as well as a program of activities including cooking, band jams, DJ’ing, graffiti art and more…
  • Free! Help yourself to teas/coffees/hot chocolate and soft drinks.

WPA Play Sessions

  • WPA Play sessions are free and open for all to attend. WPA currently run play events in various identified locations, currently throughout North East Somerset, Keynsham and Frome.
