What is the Behaviour Support Service?
The Behaviour Support Service is a team of professionals operating from Fosse Way School on behalf of the local authority for primary schools in the Norton Radstock area.
The Behaviour Support Service can be called upon to help pupils who:
- Find school difficult
- Get into trouble in lessons and in the playground
- Often feel angry
- Often feel sad or anxious
- Often fall out with friends
- Find it hard to make friends
- Worry about Key Stage transition
- Are at risk of permanent exclusion
We aim to:
- Provide early intervention and preventative work at whole school, group and individual level
- Raise levels of attainment and promote social inclusion
- Provide interventions and strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils
- Provide support to develop positive learning environments, at home and in school.
We have access to the services of a wide range of professionals in order to ensure a flexible approach to supporting schools in meeting the needs of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. We also support the local authority with referrals to hospital education (HERS), alternative provision (AP) and alternative learning environments (EOTAS)
The service is coordinated by the Panel’s Chair Iian Conley, Assistant Headteacher at both Fosse Way and The Mendip School.
