I look forward to coming to work each day because every day is different! Some days can be more challenging than others but it is always rewarding. It make me proud to see the huge progress made by the students not just in academic terms , but emotional well being, life skills and everything else they will need when they move on from school life. The staff are supportive and nurturing and is a great team to be part of. There are a range of avenues for career progression and professional development
Working in education is a challenging task not for the faint-hearted. The nature of education and working with children brings constant changes and demands. However, the dynamic changing environment drives me; looking at a problem and dealing with it to help support children provides such a sense of satisfaction. Working with young people makes you feel young and helps you stay grounded and focus on what’s real in this stressful world. To see first-hand how a child learns to deal with a challenge/problem and overcomes that issue to the extent they can self-deal with future problems leaves you with a feeling of joy and pride that cannot be matched within any other industry. Yes, education and working with children is hard and exhausting, but the emotional connections you create while aiding and supporting them to grow and become independent gives you the drive and determination to keep going.
I feel so fortunate to work alongside students and colleagues at Fosse Way that make every day a genuine joy to come to work. Having come from a mainstream setting, there was an element of trepidation, but the rewards that you gain by supporting the students in our care can’t be replicated in any other environment. The enhanced skills and confidence from the training and support that you regularly receive to ensure that you are aware of, and able to share, best practice is immeasurable. There are daily opportunities to further my knowledge and understanding in the fantastically encouraging environment that is created as a result of the dedicated collaborative staff and positive and proactive members of SLT who challenge you to stretch and challenge yourself; I love my job and I know that if you come and visit, you will see what an exceptional place Fosse Way is to work at.
